This classical bead has been hand cast in solid 925 sterling silver by artisans in Peru. It is designed to thread either individually onto our silver chains, leather necklets, silver hoop earrings or braided and plain leather bracelets. See ‘Additional Information’ below for dimensions.
STORY: This classical silver ‘Heart at One’ silver bead is based on a stone Moche mace head. The clubs were often decorated with iconography related to the gods whom they worshipped. The heart shaped decoration takes the outline of the beautiful facial disc of the owl one of the most important Moche gods, and thought by some scholars to have a similar meaning to the third eye symbolising intuition, higher consciousness, and expanded capacity for self-healing and spiritual insight. Moche religion also seems to have centred on ideas of dualistic opposition: gold/silver, day/night, land/sea. The symmetry of the owls face maybe also symbolises a union of both sides, balance, two sides as one, as in the shape of a heart.
